Cosmo Beauty’s SDGs Initiatives
Cosmobeauty with SDGs
In 2015, the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Based on the principle of “leaving no one behind on Earth,” Cosmo Beauty is also working to address social issues.
From energy and environment to work styles and industry-academia collaboration, we take action where we can to help realize a sustainable society.

Environmental Initiatives
■ Efficient Use of Energy
At the Saitama Plant (Medicos Pharmaceutical), boiler fuel was switched from kerosene to city gas in 2013, achieving an annual reduction of about 246 tons of CO₂.
Since 2014, LED lighting has been standardized in all offices and factories. Energy conservation activities continue, including the introduction of energy-saving equipment and optimization of air conditioning temperatures.
All factories have introduced a “demand monitoring system” to monitor power consumption and promote the optimization of energy use.
■ Consideration for the Environment
Reducing life-cycle CO₂ emissions by 27%, promoting efficient use of marine resources through RO water reuse and ensuring strict wastewater management.
■ Connection with Local Communities and Society
Contributing to local communities through activities such as cleaning up the area around the factory.
In 2017, announced the corporate statement “Make People and Society Beautiful®.”
In 2018, formulated basic principles and policies regarding the environment.
■ Establishment of BCP System
Establishment of a system capable of stable operation even in the event of a large-scale disaster.
Distributed placement of production facilities (Saitama, Osaka, Kobe, overseas).

Promotion of Plastic Reduction
■ Reduction of Plastic Use
In response to the significant environmental burden of microplastics, polyethylene powder use in scrub products was completely eliminated in 2017.
Since 2018, corn cob powder has been adopted as an alternative material, renewing products to be more environmentally friendly.
Since 2019, containers for commercial products have been gradually converted to plastic-reduced types, aiming to reduce CO₂ emissions.

Creating a Comfortable Workplace
■ Enhancement of Childcare Support System
Enhanced maternity leave and childcare leave systems.
Individual counseling is provided after returning to work to propose work styles that consider childcare needs.
■ Creating a Rewarding Workplace
Active promotion and career support for female employees, acceptance of foreign technical interns and establishment of proper working conditions, and workplace management respecting work-life balance.
■ Strengthening Benefits and Welfare
Introduced a paid leave accumulation system to provide security in case of emergencies.
Since 2019, housing allowances have been provided to support employees’ living standards.
■ Establishment of an improvement Proposal System
Anyone can submit improvement proposals regardless of department or position.
Outstanding proposals are rewarded with cash prizes, improving employee motivation and promoting corporate growth.

Industry-Academia Collaboration & Proprietary Technology Development
■ Technology Development through Partnerships
Collaborating with universities and research institutions to promote the development of proprietary technologies.
■ In-house Farm “Cosmo Farm”
An organic, self-cultivated farm is located within the Saitama Plant.
From cultivation to extraction, everything is done in-house to apply safe and secure extracts to products.

Under the philosophy of “Make People and Society Beautiful®,” Cosmo Beauty contributes to the realization of a sustainable society through product development, work styles, and environmental initiatives.
